The Lakewood Observer has a long history of working with Lakewood City Schools, and Emerson has always been one of our favorite schools. Likewise the Lakewood Fire Department has grown near and dear to my heart. Watching these guys run into burning buildings, saving lives in accidents while putting their lives on the line every day, like observing our police, gives you a real appreciation for what they do.

This is why, it is doubling troubling that I am finally posting photos from the...

2015 Junior-Fire-Chief Drive To School...

Each year the Lakewood Fire Department chooses a "Junior Fire Chief Of The Year," This year it was Madeline Oldfield from Emerson School.

Perhaps you remember Madeline from when she made her speech at the Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, part of her duties. One of the best parts of the deal, is being taking to school in the fire engine! this past Thursday, 10.08
