RECAP of Tele-Town Meeting 10/06/2015

Rebecca Patton, RN, LHA Trustee Member has given us fair warning during the LHA Tele-Conference that it is only a matter of time that the hospital will be empty!
So we had better hurry to close Lakewood Hospital so we can transform Healthcare Delivery per Ms. Patton, Dr. Jones et al on tonight's Tele-Town Call sponsored by your" we had a plan that we refuse to discuss with you" LHA & CCF Team.
Calls were pre-screened. The closing of Lakewood Hospital was discussed as inevitable and solely as a result of less revenue with no mention of the closings and moving of patients, departments, equipment and staff to other CCF locations.
Again with the changing healthcare system of reduced need for inpatient beds/care without the explanation of why Fairview receives 60 beds from Lakewood Hospital in the Decanting Plan and Avon's new hospital will have 126 beds.
Oh, by the way..."It's not fair" to make Avon patients come to Lakewood to receive services from our hospital. I am sorry that I cannot remember if Jones or Haber were speaking ay that time (I think it was Dr. Jones) but this statement was really made.
The discussion on what the new ER (er urgent care) would contain & what services the Health Center (er Medical Office Building) would offer were pretty fuzzy.
Most of the Tele-Town meeting regurgitated the same old misleading information about why LH will close and the Excitement of new buildings & all that money the Foundation is supposed to supply with no mention of the true economic impact on Lakewood nor the fact that Cleveland Clinic wants 2 votes on the board that administers any remaining funds and a measure of control over what goes on the remaining acres after they demolish LH.
I expected as much but it is still so disappointing to hear leaders in this community sling hash instead of the truth.
