photo by Matthew Markling.Mayoral Candidate and Ohio State Senator Michael Skindell took to the end of the line at
the local State Driver's License Bureau to make sure he was legal and up-to-date.
He took this step to be legal, even though it was doubtful anyone at City Hall would ever ask
to see it, he wanted to do the honest, ethical, and right thing.
Honesty, check. Transparency, check. Accountability, check. History of representing all
Lakewoodites, check. Ability to renew his driver's license before his birthday, check.
Senator Michael Skindell is certainly qualified to be the Mayor of Lakewood.

It's probably just in the wording, but why would he need to stop by the DMV to "make sure he was legal and up-to-date"?
Couldn't one just look at your driver's license and see when the expiry date is without going to the DMV?
Or was his license expired and he needed to re-apply?
Not trying to be a jerk but I don't quite understand what actually happened. Thanks!

Matt,
I just ran into Senator Skindell today when Katie and I were at the local DMV.
Senator Skindell was simply doing what you and I do when our licenses are up to be renewed ... we go in and actually renew them.
I believe Jim is highlighting the fact that Fitz! never did that simple task when he was our mayor and county executive. And neither City Hall nor the County ever asked to see Fitz!'s ID.
It's a joke ... you know ... the fact that Fitz! never had a valid, permanent driver's license for 10 years ... while he was our mayor and county executive.
Now, Jim is sure that Mike Summers has a valid, permanent driver's license. Me ... I will believe it when I see Summers' ID ... joking ... not really.
By the way, Senator Skindell was a good sport since he let me take his photo at the DMV.
Matt

Thanks for the explanation, Matt.
Yep, it was just the wording. Saying "make sure he was legal and up-to-date" makes it sound like Skindall wasn't sure if he was legal so he had to go in and ask someone. My confusion.
