Perseid Meteor Shower - Great For Meeting Neighbors

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

As people lined up all over the city and probably around the country, looking towards
the sky from midnight on, saw little but learned a lot.

In my humble opinion, it was no where near as big as they said, but on a perfect night it
was fun talking with neighbors and hearing someone say every ten minutes or so, "I think
I just say another." Some were good size, some like the ones I caught just little streaks.

A small one sharing the sky with a military plane going by. Look below the plane trail.

More people are going out tonight, walk down to the Lake, most cities kept their lakefront
parks open until dawn, Lakewood has not.

What was amazing in the number of stars that can be captured even in Lakewood on Cliff Drive!

I highly recommend driving an hour to Observatory Park, it is a "dark sky park". The view of the shower last night was amazing, they were almost non stop.
