I see that the Mayor that never spoke of a Rec Center until plans going back 5 years were
found and then said, "I have been talking about it for years" BS! Than started a fraudulent
"Active Living Task Force" where the director and the mayor already had 5 years of plans
rec plans in their pockets is now offering the community...

"Another real discussion about what to do with the hospital property..."

Pitiful.

Let us prosecute those that threw the city under the bus, and ignored their fiduciary
responsibilities to this city, before we talk about anything else.

If this new committee is remotely true, and it is not, than this is the worst mayor of all
time, helping the clinic pack their bags WITH NO PLAN?

This bullshit is getting very, very old.

In case you're wondering what Jim's referring to, City Hall has announced another series of "Dog and Pony Shows" regarding the hospital.

This next set is allegedly aimed to seek input on "development opportunities" for the current hospital land.
The first such meeting, led by Dru Siley, will take place on August 19 at U of Akron-Lakewood. (see link)

Considering there is no signed agreement, isn't that jumping the gun a bit?

The Mayor and some members of Council + the Development & Finance Departments of the City of Lakewood are proceeding as if Lakewood Hospital is closing.

They are doing their best to reinforce the notion that this is a done deal.

The council meeting (council only with Law Director Butler) was run last night by Ms. Madigan as if the deal was done and LH was closing. Despite her efforts to correct herself when she made statements about the changes, it was obvious that she wants the hospital to close. She fairly sputtered every time she tried to say that the City is working on what kind of healthcare would be provided in Lakewood and nearly choked on the concept that an inpatient hospital could be a possible option.

The Mayor wants this done before he is supplanted in office by another. He has some pretty pictures to show us.

The technique of asking for feedback to get people to Vest in the Process is a good one. It is often used with children. Children shake their heads up & down & say yes when pretty baubles are shown to them and you ask them if they want one.

We are not children. We can discuss this IF it is ever necessary. The BEST USE of the land IS LAKEWOOD HOSPITAL. Stop trying to cram what you want down our throats Mr. Mayor while calling it a community discussion.

After 7 months of being taken to school by the public on just how bogus their "healthcare transformation" thingy was, Mayor Summers & Co. are finally shifting focus to the "significant parcel of real estate" thingy.

Teaching us to think like developers?

Offering us opportunities to design uses for the land?

So THEY are going to teach US how to be "developers" and "designers"????

Really?

Here comes another failure...a big failure!
