As you might be aware, a group called "Right to Vote" has been formed to put a charter change on the ballot this November.
It has many of the same supporters as "Save Lakewood Hospital", but has been established as a separate group.
Therefore, it doesn't have a website or Facebook page...it needs word of mouth.

You can sign the "Right to Vote" petition this Saturday, August 1st from 10am to 2pm at the "Skindell for Mayor" campaign office, located at 11910 Detroit Avenue.

State Senator Mike Skindell has offered his campaign office for this event.
He is supporting the right to vote initiative to change Lakewood's charter to give our community the right to vote on the future of our hospital.

It takes only a minute to sign the petition. The future of Lakewood Hospital depends on it. Mr. Skindell believes that the future of Lakewood Hospital should not be determined by backroom deals. I agree with him.....if you agree, please join us on Saturday.

As I mentioned, we don't have a web presence to broadcast this....so please share the information your neighbors and friends. Give them a call or knock on their door....and share this info freely on social media, such as your Facebook page, Twitter, etc.

I wanted to "bump" this thread up to the top of the board.

Please tell your friends and neighbors to stop by Saturday....we'll be collecting signatures from 10 to 2.

I was part of the event for all four hours today.

It went SPECTACULARLY well.
I especially want to thank all the Deck members that stopped by.

I continue to be amazed at the passion and intelligence of our town.
We were busy collecting petitions, signatures, and registering voters.

I was also thrilled at the amazing diversity of the folks who stopped by.
They came from every corner of Lakewood, from all political persuasions, all ethnic and racial groups, and in ages ranging from 21 to senior citizens.
We also spoke to folks from ALL economic groups, including some that didn't have cars.
Like me, they take offense to the "Fairview is only three miles away" talking point.
Sadly, Team Summers simply does not care about the vulnerable in our town.

This town is fightin' mad.

We will do this again next Saturday.....same time, same place.
I'll post a separate thread later this week.
In the meantime, spread the word to your friends.
