Docments Show Mayor's 2013 Plan to "Take Down" Hospital

I’ve attached just one of the 324 Subsidium “slides” that were concealed from some City Council members and the public until just recently posted on onelakewood.com:

The Mayor has shuffled the deck--this document dump is a classic litigators trick muddle matters.

The single document reveals that the Mayor’s plan to “take down” Lakewood Hospital was formulated PRIOR TO OCTOBER, 2013. The document also reveals the Mayor hatched his plan to convert the hospital site to a “Family Heath Campus” with “potential development of additional health and wellness facilities” i.e. the Community Recreation Center and “other attractive economic development elements” in 2013, if not earlier.

Remarkably, the document references a “community dialogue” as being “critical” and that dialogue on only the Family Health Center portion of this scheme did not begin until January, 2015---over 16 months later. These arrogant City Leaders have not yet begun the dialogue on their recently uncovered secret plans---it is almost two years now—they won’t, their course is set.

On the whole, these newly revealed 324 documents show that Mayor Summers and those aligned with him have been extremely dishonest with the public and City Council and the Subsidium process was even more flimsy than I alleged in my April 13, 2015 letter to elected leaders. A “half-truth” is a statement that conveys only part of the truth, especially one used deliberately in order to deceive someone. One such example, was on January 28, 2015 at the Beck Center recorded forum, when Mayor Summers said concerning the hospital land: “The question is what do we do with those 4 acres and the options really are residential, retail or commercial….we have just begun to think about 4 acres of redevelopment downtown….something else could happen there…it could be years in the making.” (you-tube at 1 hour 28 minutes on OneLakewood.com) The Mayor and others concocted their plans back in 2013 and are about t unveil them shortly.

The evidence is now conclusive---this is not about improving healthcare for Lakewood citizens—it is about the Mayor and his gang privatizing public assets and subverting public money to greedy non-profit millionaire co-conspirators to continue their personal agendas controlling public money without accountability.

The ex-officio LHA trustees (Summers/Madigan/Bullock) should be embarrassed and should explain why these documents have just been made public and why they did not want their colleagues on Council and the public to know about the plans and jaded process until now—but they are not embarrassed and they won’t explain anything.

This all turns any notion of transparent government on its head.

Wow, it seems like each day reveals more incriminating evidence.
How much more are they hiding?

I think it's time to use the term "Hospital-Gate".

The better question is this:

When will federal investigators begin to review these documents?

Brian,

I hope you run all this uncovered information in a series of articles in The Lakewood Observer.

Since Team Summers has been complaining about the fact that they are only getting above the fold, front page coverage, your stories should replace the Team Summers stories to provide Team Summers with the balance they have been crying for as of late.

Don't forget, you've got other players here who have, because they are not city officials, managed to keep their names out of, or off, these documents. People who are intimately involved in planning and facilitating this. People who plan to benefit financially from the diversion of funds and the "development" of the land.

Please pardon my ignorance, but whose pockets are benefitting from this situation? How are they benefitting, or more accurately, where will the money be coming from that will benefit them? Will it be personal financial gain, private, corporate or government gain?

Is this a scenario where contactors, negotiators, development firms, etc. will gain from developing the land? Who else can or will gain beyond that?

Thanks.
Corey

Corey

For months I have been arguing that no one is getting rich on this.

Then we uncovered some documents, but they have yet to be released for publication.

It pains me to say this, but it would appear, there is a financial side to this.

Jim,

I'm sure there is a financial side to this, there is in nearly all situations in life.

I am having a hard time figuring out who, or what, is financially gaining from this. The easy answers are contractors and developers, but who beyond that. I just can't figure out the angle of gain on this and it is driving me crazy. It would definitely help me make sense of all of this, good or bad.

My summation (from afar) is that -- if all had "gone to plan" -- a new not-for-profit would have been formed ... with an Executive Director position to fill (and perhaps other positions); and given the usual MO of those devising/hatching the plan, there would be some cronyism/nepotism at play?

Can anyone give me a little status update for all the parties involved (Mayor, City Council, Plaintiffs, "Save Lakewood Hospital, LHA and LHF)? Where are we now in the process?

The way this is going, this would make a good crime novel. Or what about Law & Order: Criminal Intent? Too bad they cancelled that show.

Rhonda-- This story breaks continuously, so it's hard to briefly recap.

I suggest that you read through these sources:

*The many threads here on the Deck
*The Save Lakewood Hospital website www.savelakewoodhospital.org
*You can join the SLH Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/4307897 ... 4/?fref=nf

Rhonda same cast of characters from WestEnd with the exception of those that died or moved.

A couple lucky souls that moved here and do not realize they are being used yet.

This would be version 24, oh hell let's just call it Version 47 part trois, for those keeping track.
