For many Lakewood basements, there's an EZ you-install product that slips right into your basement shower and wash drains. You just screw it in place in seconds and it helps to keep water from coming back up the drains using a gravity float system. You can send your water out, but it won't easily come back in. I got mine from Glen at Lakewood Hardware. I've been fortunate with my drains anyway as I live at the top of a street but it never hurts to be ready for that once-in-a-decade worst-case scenario.

A photographer checks out the water. As you can see water was pouring out of the walls!
A police over said, "When I called for the tow, the water was up to the wheels, in less than a minute it was over the doors.
Another car with two people were pulled out the other side.
Meanwhile in Lakewood Park flooding and trees falling!
