BIG NIGHT IN LAKEWOOD!

Tonight is the night many of us sit on the edge of our chairs anxiously waiting to hear
the news on how we must vote in the fall!

Yes tonight is the night the Lakewood Democrats will pick who they back.

And so many races, so many democrats to choose from!

The one I always find interesting is the race for Mayor, recently they have chosen
Republicans over Democrats, just to make sure there is a D in City Hall. I mean they
have to convert before the vote, but...

So tonight we have a life long Democrat that has fought his entire life for the people, and
democratic ideals, and openness. He has held office at every level in the state, and has a
law degree and history that shows him always fighting for the little guy. His platform is
openness, honesty, and transparency in government.

Or we have a man that was a Republican his whole life, and became a democrat to get
elected in Lakewood. Hand picked by Ed FitzGerald to carry out his plans, and has promised
as our next mayor to continue to run the Clinic out of Lakewood, dilute over $100 million
in assets immediately for a loss, and channel $32 million to an unnamed non-profit run
by his trusted friend, for a purpose yet undecided.

Should be a squeaker.

Stay tuned!

If the Democratic Club endorses a Republican, then it may as well just dissolve.
If the Browns Backers got together and elected the Steelers as their favorite team, then why would there need to be Browns Backers?

Alex will get an upclose look at some of the issues we discussed a few weeks ago. (I believe Buckley was in on that discussion)
Folks who have little or no concern for actual liberal causes will work to get the endorsement simply so they can put it on their campaign literature.
This stuff has been going on for years, and it has turned off most Dems.

The vote will be limited to a narrow group of folks, those that have paid dues and attended three meetings.
Most people don't have the time to show up to three meetings on a Thursday night....therefore you get a very narrow slice of the electorate.
This narrow slice can be manipulated by "stuffing the house".

You sometimes wind up with a result that doesn't match opinion on the street.
In national terms, it is like the GOP Iowa Straw Poll, which was recently cancelled because it was annually manipulated by fringe candidates like Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann.

Hey Mike,

They do the same back room selective few making big decisions in NYC. I just want to see it played out for myself here in Lakewood.

Not quite.
At least the "smoke filled room" was filled with actual party members.
This circus includes members of the other team.

For example, Bloomberg could have never gotten the Dem endorsement in NYC -- despite some extremely left wing positions and his billion dollar war chest -- because he's not a Democrat.

In 1973 I lost the Club endorsement (I called in sick, hehe). Got headline articles and a forever supporter on my first door.

The endorsement process is important but can be played so many ways.

Mike Skindell is the true and genuine Democrat.

I think there are more Rs here than Ds. Swear to god, at least two paid five figures to
be near the building bush was near during the inaugural of that SOB.
