In 2006 the Cleveland Clinic retained architects to help draw up their infamous leaving
Lakewood, Ohio and it was presented a year or so later to Ed FitzGerald and Council which
included Madigan and Summers.

It was this concept that lead to all the talks we have had up to this point. After all if
this was the Cleveland Clinic's Plan for Lakewood, and it did not have soccer fields errr
mixed use greenspaace and a Rec Center screw them. They just have no vision...

Yeah the Cleveland Clinic doesn't want to be in Lakewood?

City Hall cannot be trusted with the truth, the facts, or any part of this deal.

They should step down, and step away.

If the Clinic really wants to be in Lakewood, they could make things very simple.
Cosgrove can step to a microphone and say, "We want keep this hospital open, but that Mayor and LHA are trying to get rid of us!"
The Clinic's minions at the PD and around the county would join the local outcry, and this whole thing would be scrapped within a day.

However, this is clearly not the case. The Clinic duped Summers into agreeing to this. It's part of their long term strategy. The Clinic tried to start cutting the hospital during Cain's administration, but she threatened to sue and they backed off. They started making headway with Mayor NoLicense, and are going for the kill with Summers.

The Clinic wants to gain the Avon market, get out of a lease (they want ownership of all their properties), and make Fairview more efficient. This plan lets them accomplish all this while maintaining a monopoly in Lakewood.

i would agree with you, from the onset.

But now we are 5 years down the road from where Ed FitzGerald and Mike Summers helped them leave.

That is 5 years with 2 years of the Mayor explaining to the Clinic, this is a slam dunk, I can
get this past the people of Lakewood with no problems.

Had they kept to their original timeline, today you would have known about this for 7 days. Not 7 months.

Mike you explain why the Clinic spent money on these drawings 7 years ago then?

Then tell me why they changed their minds.

Two easy reasons:

1. Drawings, even very nice ones, are not expensive to the Clinic. The Clinic is worth around $11 billion. As you know from the "Lakewood Peninsula" idea, drawings don't mean anything in the real world.

So the Clinic hires a new company to develop a plan for Lakewood, in case they run into a weak mayor down the road?

Really, this is damn near as good as Obama's family setting up the fake birth certificate.

OK try this one on for size. The Mayor and Council goes to the Clinic asking them to pay for a new rec center, and
the clinic says no. Then they go to the school board, and the school board says no. They they go back to the Clinic
that says no. Then the mayor issues an RFP for hospitals to come in and replace the clinic that would not pay for
the rec center, and again they all say no. Then the mayor demands the clinic to answer, and they send the most
outrageous deal anyone can think of, but it funds the rec center, and the mayor goes, "YES!!!!!"

OK show me the proof your your theory, the proof of mine is all over these pages.

I have yet to be wrong on this stuff Mike, I have tracked it for years.

The Mayor, along with your good friend Ed FitzGerald sold our "Cow" for some magic beans.

Face it, your weak mayor is actually driving the bus.

Mike, they didn't push Mayor Cain around, she got what she wanted, they didn't push
Tom George around, he got what he wanted, and said no to the exit in Avon on I-90.
But when the FitzGerald/Summers team came around, they sensed that the elected
officials were weak and stupid?

Team Summers has consistently demonstrated total, complete, and utter incompetence on this issue.
They don't have the power, the intelligence, or the money to push the mighty Cleveland Clinic around.

Yes. They tried to push around both Cain and George, and were rebuffed. The third time was the charm. They knew they would get a stooge sooner or later. The Clinic is a major institution, and looks at strategy in the long term (unlike politicians, who only look to the next election or the next higher office).

1. The magic beans and the COW story is very funny, but a bit twisted---playing along with you, I don't think Jack Summers' axe will be sharp enough to cut down the bean stalk and prevent the Giant from taking down the City. So the Clinic is both the COW and the Giant?

2. I disagree with your conclusion on the "Clinic" drawing.--This looks to me like an architect's first stab at the emergency room renovations---Wasn't the emergency room redone at the back of the building at about that time?

Given the very crude cardboard models, I would guess that this was about $2k in fees that were likely charged back to LHA under Administrative Fees. But then again, LHA spent $400K for a slide show from an Atlanta girl that admitted she did not understand the legal relationship between LHA and the Clinic, but then proceeded to "negotiate" away that relationship because Summers had a "vision."

I think you could have done a better job at these models back in shop class at Harding in 1964 with a razor knife and leftover milk cartons from the cafeteria so this is not a big deal.

Make the Clinic whoever you want. All I know is we sold Bill Call's "Cash Cow" for some question
marks errrrrrrr magic beans.

That is not the emergency room, that is the southeast corner of Detroit and Belle, the walkway to the
garage is there, as is the Professional Building.
This would be the rebuild of the Old Building which was put at $80 million.

Might have been done for Vision of Tomorrow, and while I am sure we can debate if Obama is an American,
I cannot buy into, they did it waiting for a weak Mayor.

I do not see Mayor Summers as a weak person, I see him as a person that decided he was changing Lakewood
and Lakewood's Health Care Wellness, and too the steps to do it.

I also see the process as very flawed, and those findings equally as flawed as no one has been given the truth yet.

Stupid, evil, smart, lazy, for years I asked this about Bush, and realized one person can be all of them.
