At the recent council meeting Mayor Summers said he has made attempts to get a revenue sharing agreement with Avon. He wanted the agreement to help restore some of the revenue Lakewood would lose as the result of the relocation of Lakewood Hospital to Avon.
They said no.
I guess I can't blame them. Avon has worked very hard to get 2,000 new healthcare jobs and the hundreds of millions of dollars in economic benefit those jobs bring in and they see no reason to share the wealth.
Meanwhile, our Mayor is working hard to transfer even more jobs and revenue and economic activity to Avon.
We live in strange times.

Why would they?
This idea was just wishful thinking floated by Summers to help get the original LOI approved.
If the LOI had been approved by now as he and the Clinic originally planned, we would have gotten Avon's response AFTER the fact.
Now it's just [yet another] embarrassing item that he needs to explain away.

It's now called the "Master Agreement"
This stuff writes itself.

At Monday's Meeting of the Whole, Mayor Summers held out hope that the Clinic could use their "influence" with Avon. So give him a break. I believe that he has great knowledge and expertise in how the Clinic "influences" cities to give their money and property away for nothing.

While it is great to have fun with this, "Money returning to us from Avon..." was yet another cornerstone in this entire "great deal for Lakewood." With the knowledge that it is not coming to Lakewood makes this deal even worse.
Jen Pae the finance director has pointed out that it was the George Administration that did not sign onto the tax sharing deal with Avon 10 years ago, which is true. But it was Mayor Mike Summers that told us he could deliver those funds. So while I was never happy with Tom's decision, it is Mike that owns BS yet again.
This stuff is really getting old.

Has anyone told the Mayor of Avon that Hospitals are obsolete?
