Schools Planning session for '15-'16, 4:15 PM TODAY!

Sorry for the late notice on this--- but for those of you who are still very interested in What in The World (WTW) is going on with our Gifted Program (it has been cut in half, the qualifying CSI score has been raised, etc.The kids who are one IQ point below the new standard will go back to regular classrooms to raise their test scores, etc.) What is the District's position on PARCC testing etc, and of late, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH STAFFING?

Are we out of money? Why are teachers doubling up on classes, and traveling back and forth between different schools? Why when teachers retire are they not replaced? Why are GT certified teachers being moved around like chess pieces? Is there a problem paying teachers? Then we should know about it. We've been quite supportive of the District with levies and bond issues. More and more it seems the unofficial slogan of Lakewood Schools is "Kids Last" as they are the ones that suffer from a lack of continuity with teachers and programs.

Many of us have had a wonderful year in this school system, some have had difficult years, but we all agree that we have to support our teachers. They are the ones on the ground, in the classrooms, along with our kids. We need to pay as much attention, and be advocates for them along with our students.

A Board of Education Special Board Meeting and Planning Session will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in the Board Auditorium at the Lakewood Board of Education Building, 1470 Warren Road, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 from 4:15 to 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of planning for the 2015-16 school year and any other business that may come before the Board. The agenda is attached.
