So with the deadline for the extension of the hospital approaching in a few weeks, my question is this and seems simple, yet no one can answer it.

if the deal does not go through, then what happens? will Lakewood remain open til 2026? or does the clinic break the deal, and just walk? or is the deal somewhat at a stand still?

still confused ad not really getting any solid answers

At the last council meeting representatives of the Cleveland Clinic were asked what services were going to be offered at the new Family Health Center. They could not answer the question. Think about that. They have had a year to prepare an answer, they were invited to council to answer that question and they could not provide an answer.

If you have time attend one of the Save Lakewood Hospital meetings at Lakewood Public Library.

The next meeting is on Sunday May 10th at 4:00 PM.

If you want to know more about the proposed Lakewood Family Health Center visit the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Family Health Center in East Cleveland. It is a 3 story building with about 50,000 square feet. The proposed Lakewood Center will be very similar.

Some representatives of Save Lakewood Hospital visited the Jones Center. The facility:

had about 100 employees

2 full time doctors

the other employees were nurses, nurses assistants, social workers and physician assistants.

specialists were available one or two days a week but were not based at the center.
there was no imaging equipment

the lab took samples and sent the samples elsewhere for testing

the "emergency room" is really a minute clinic like what you see on Detroit in Rocky River
with limited hours. If anyone needs anything more than routine care that can be provided in a doctors office they are transferred to a hospital.

When a patient arrives at the center they first see a triage specialist. In a hospital the triage is used to determine what level of care is needed.

HOWEVER: At the Jones Center the triage is a FINANCIAL TRIAGE. If you do not have insurance you don't get any care. You are directed to a local free clinic.

The proposed Family Health Center in Lakewood will look exactly like the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Center in East Cleveland.

The true purpose of the Lakewood Family Heath Center is to divert paying customers to Lorain County. Mayor Summers thinks that's a great idea.

This train wreck can still be stopped but people need to get involved.
