What's going on?

Downsizing, Virginia has had some setbacks, so she is cutting back.
What is happening at University of Akron? Sign is looking like it is falling off in the back?
It would appear that the "movie set" is being taken down all over town.
A faux city can only live on hype and tweets so-long.
The once very stable City of Lakewood with their new, well the past twelve years of
putting all of our money on DowntowN instead of the neighborhoods could be coming
home to roost.
Is this entire hospital debacle not just another way to make "DowntowN" seem successful.
A very small handful of people have dedicate their lives here to changing Lakewood into a
mall town. They have tried all over the place explaining "economic development" will save
a city that need band aides not open heart surgery.
But Bill I would be speaking to the choir, wouldn't I?

Our various "regional" institutions are spending a lot of money to move people and economic activity out of Cuyahoga County. The Clinic's policies are just one of many. When people and jobs are moved further and further away from Cuyahoga County what's left behind gets harder to maintain.
I am waiting around for one elected official to start challenging that dynamic but I wait in vain.
They won't even take of the easy fight like saving health care in a City of 52,000. It's like they are all fighting to see who can surrender first and surrender the most.

Bill and Jim,
You guys seem to know something about Virginia Marti that nobody else does. What is it? And, speaking about those few blocks, anybody have any updates on these:
Braised, the restaurant?
the Phil Vedda building?
the formerly beautiful building that houses the Shore restaurant?

I past by the College and noticed one of the buildings was for sale. I posted to find out what was going on.
Braised is supposedly still in the works. One partner owns a nice local bar in Cuyahoga Heights. Last I heard the partners were having some disagreements. The partners are also faced with expensive repairs at the building.
Years ago someone told me that Vedda wanted way to much for the building and was willing to let it rot before selling it for less.

The Shore Restaurant Building: Tina & Angelo are moving forward with plans to replicate salvaged pieces of the terra cotta that was destroyed. The companies they have hired are painstakingly creating molds and that process will probably take months.
I wish more Lakewood building owners would restore their buildings like they're doing.

Good news, Bill. Was always one of the most beautiful buildings on Detroit.
