Just after the doors opened to students Friday morning, the secretary thought she saw an
unknown black male, age 50 woth salt and pepper hair enter the elevator. She immediately
called Lakewood Police that came with amazing speed.

The building was surrounded, classrooms secured. As more and more police arrived, the
students were calmly led out of the building, as the police made a sweep of the entire area.

When I contacted Superintendent Patterson, he explained what was going on, and said,
everyone was following protocol.

As I was leaving children were being let into the building.

Great work Lakewood Schools, Lakewood Police, and even some of Lakewood Fire were there.

Upon reviewing the tape, the "unknown" person was identified, and indeed an employee.

Better safe than sorry in this day and age.

I have to say, it was amazing watching Lakewood Police and Schools work together to secure
the students, the school, move the students safely out of the building, and then back in.

Great work Lakewood Schools, Lakewood Police and a big thank you to Merritt Waters for her
prompt action, and being able to straighten it out.

Move along, nothing to see here.
