Shhhhh... COW Will Decide the Future of Lakewood Hospital
Posted: Thu Feb 05, 2015 8:58 pm
Lakewood City Council's Committee of the Whole (COW) meets regularly to discuss and work out issues that come before city council. All seven members of Lakewood city council are members of the COW. All of the meetings of the COW are open to the public, unless the COW votes to be in "Executive Session".
Most of the meetings take place in the "cramped" City Council's Conference Room. The "City Council Conference Room" is very small room with a large table, with seats for council members/staff around the table, and chairs around the wall for the public. It's very crowded when you get more than 10 citizens in this space.
Council can move the meeting to a larger venue such as the City Hall Auditorium/Council Chambers, the Jury Room, or even the Courtroom. Given the community interest in the future of Lakewood Hospital, I hope the Lakewood City Council will have the foresight to let the sunshine in and move these meetings to a larger venue. I would encourage council members to video tape these meeting for those Lakewood residents who cannot attend. Hopefully, City Council will NOT go into "Executive Session" to discuss the future OUR Lakewood Hospital.
The following is from the city's website as of Thursday, February 5, 2015. City Council President, Mary Louise Madigan calls the COW meetings.
Please note, COW meetings can be added or changed. It's best to check the city of Lakewood's website: http://onelakewood.com/News.aspx?NewsID=509
