Last night on Twitter, John Litten announced that he is running for the Ward 3 Council seat this year.
His campaign's Twitter handle is @LittenforLKWD

This year's local elections include the Mayor's race and each of the four ward council seats.

Litten is the only officially announced candidate that I am aware of...if there are more, feel free to mention them on this thread.

I think this will be a very interesting election year.

It's unlikely the 2015 elections will center around issues which is a shame.

Here is an issue:

Who killed Lakewood Hospital?

I think the Clinic.

Others think it was City Council and the Mayor.

When detectives investigate a murder suspect one of the questions they ask themselves is what was the motive?

The Clinic had opportunity and motive.

I don't see what motive the Mayor and council had to kill the hospital but I'm open to suggestions.

It will be interesting to hear the candidates' take on the Hospital news. This could make or break anyone's run.

Does anyone know if this is the same John Litten that was appointed to the citizens advisory board by Ed Fitzgerald and the same one on the hospital board? If it is, it seems like another get along go along guy. Is that what Lakewood really needs at this point?

Ryan,

From what I know, it is the same Litten from the hospital board.

We're doomed.

I can't believe the deliberate destruction of a Hospital won't even be an issue.

Anyone planning on attending the next dog and pony show?

Bill,

It is indeed pathetic. If I were to run a campaign against any of the incumbent candidates, all I would point to is the hospital. I don't care how much money you have in the bank and who's bankrolling your campaign. When your city loses a hospital thats been around for over a hundred years, the 2015 election cycle comes down to this:

"He/she voted to close the hospital".

Jobs lost: 1,100

Lost Revenue: $1.5 million per year

What is the economic impact of the 1,100 jobs?

As much as I was looking forward to Shawn's Juris' ouster from council, the thought of a Clinic rubber-stamper taking his place seems ludicrous. Of course, we'll have to wait and see if Juris and the rest of council have the balls to stand up to the Clinic and the back-room deal that was engineered by City Hall. If Juris is also a rubber-stamper, then I guess Litton is our only option . . . :(

Mark A. Schneider, who recently moved to Lakewood, announced at the last meeting of the Lakewood Democratic Club that he will be running for Ward 3.

Did he speak at the hospital meeting at the Beck? I think he did and I thought his speech sounded a little political. :)

Does anyone know his background/qualifications/connections with the mayor or hospital board??? :)

Is this him?

Former State Rep. Mark Schneider will be arraigned Wednesday morning in Mentor Municipal Court on a drunken driving charge.

May explain why he is moving to a new town. I think he will have at least I ally on council ;)
