FIRE At Gridley/Detroit Great Work Lakewood Fire/Police

Around 4pm a call went out, that smoke and flames were spotted coming from the second
floor of an apartment building on Detroit Extension and Gridley. There had been a report
of arcing wires and sparks from the pole.
The soffit seems to have caught the wire, and the arc set the wood under it on fire. It
qucikly moved through the walls, and into the roof.

Lakewood Fire department was quick to the scene, but the flames had gotten inside
the walls and access holes needed to be chopped into the ceiling.

Because of the bitter cold, the streets were becoming a skating rink as they battled
the flames and tore open the walls.

Very shortly even with all of the troubles, flames and fire was reported out.

Everyone out and safe. One resident was amazed at how quickly it all happened.

While the all clear was given, Fire remained on the scene. Fire once it gets into the walls
and ceilings become a nasty little beast. Jumping apartments, laying low and smoldering.
Interesting side note: Fire crews had enough time to move out the furniture, and place
a tarp on the floor before tearing the roof down.
But still, Lakewood Police Fire and Police
THANK YOU!
