Around 10:30 am I could see a fire truck in the back of Emerson School, they were setting
it up in such a way it looked like the ladder was going up...

... yet no smoke!

Suddenly the kids came out in single file moving quickly...

Image
Ohhhhhhh Fire Prevention Week! They had all been inside listen to Fire Marshall Tim Dunphy
talking about the need to be safe with electricity and flames.

Image
As the Emerson students were well behaved, the firemen were willing to show the ladder
truck off, and get the kids cheering.

The kids love Tim, and it is easy to see why.

Getting the students to cheer to see the ladder go up.

Cheer they did and up it went.

Then up went the fireman!

On the clear crisp day it seemed to all like the fireman was in the clouds...

Then all too quickly he scrambled down the ladder.

Fire Marshal Tim Malley reminds the students to check their home smoke detector's battery
and to make sure it works, check electrical plugs and...

... be safe this Halloween, and I will see all of you next year!

Image
Then they swung the ladder around and...

Walked out over the students as they cheered.

Even Principal Brian Siftor got caught up in the excitement of the Fire Truck visit. After all
boys of all ages love fire trucks, and everyone loves our Lakewood Fire Department!

Then off to the next school All Lakewood Schools got the same treatment this week!

Another real moment of Americana here in Lakewood.

Everyone had a great time.

Good work Lakewood Fire Department!
