One of the key events for LakewoodAlive and Downtown Business Group is the Wine and Craft Beer Festival.
While one of the newcomers to the Lakewood "Festival Scene." It is a cornerstone in helping
LakewoodAlive do all the great work they do. Ken Brand's little baby, has become so important
in the year, that LA Execs often say, "One rain-out at Beer Festival, could really hurt LakewoodAlive's programs.
While that is always impressive that LakewoodAlive has created another event that has grown
into a yearly happening, but as Lakewoodites we should also make sure LakewoodAlive is
well funded enough, that they never have to fear the rain.

No matter, the rain stopped, and under a wonderful crisp evening, more than 2,000 wine and
beer drinkers were in attendance! Yeah, Lakewood is rocking the party scene.

Amazing crowd have good clean fun.

What amused me to no end, was that this event I believe has made us the walkable city we
have oh so often bragged about being. Detroit Avenue filled with people walking to the
Wine and craft Beer Festival, from all over the city. It was very nice to see and somewhat
amazing as usually people bar hop, but this was just steady streams down to Detroit
and then towards DowntowN.

All levels packed! It was so crowded, you had to leave the event to get a good photo of the event!

How big is that?

A great time, under a perfect Lakewood night sky.

Great work, Ken Brand, LakewoodAlive, DowntowN Business Alliance, the City of Lakewood,
and all of the volunteers.

You know, this event was so big, that for a couple hours you could actually get into 16-Bit!

My wife, who is a saint, has no problem with me attending two beer festivals a year with my friends : Kona Beer Fest in Hawai'i and the Great American Beer Fest in Denver.

I can now add a third, and it is even better because I can walk there from our home.

The Lakewood Beer and Wine Fest is well on its way to being a premier festival. They did an exceptional job setting it up, having the vendors and participants ready and running an EXTREMELY seamless festival.

One of the biggest challenges with these festivals are the drunk and rowdy crowds. Last night, there were none of them. Whether it is the fact that we were all so mellow that it didn't matter, or that the price scared off those who wanted to "drink to get drunk", the people at the event were polite and well behaved.

The number of unique beers and wines were very strong and we had a great time mingling with our friends and neighbours from Lakewood.

Great job, Lakewood Alive! And can't wait for next year.
