Here's a the message from Treasurer Kent Zeman:

A Board of Education and Superintendent’s Cabinet Retreat will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014, in the Board Auditorium at the Lakewood Board of Education Building, 1470 Warren Road, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of planning for the 2014-15 school year and any other business that may come before the Board.

Kent R. Zeman

CFO/Treasurer

Lakewood City Schools

This meeting is a big deal. It's 4 hours long and it is a working session to plan the 2014-2015 school year. If this has an effect on your life, or your children's lives, you should make an effort to attend, or attend any part of it that you can.

Members of the community are not invited to propose ideas or changes but they are welcome to listen and learn about how our District works, and how everyone works together along with finding out about all of the many things coming up for the next school year. Our current administration is friendly. They work hard, they appreciate your interest. Please try to make time if you can. (And bring cookies for everybody, it's a long afternoon.)

The coming year will obviously be a challenging one--- in which the administration will have to deal with Year 2 of implementing the CORE, the demolition of elementary buildings along with the preparation of various rented and adopted schools that some of our elementary population will be moving into, a re-designed gifted program, and those are just the most obvious ones, as well as the fact that they will clearly have to deal with the upsetting news about LHS' band director's arrest yesterday.

The time again, 4pm to 8pm tonight, Thursday, June 12 in the Board Auditorium at the Lakewood Board of Education Building, 1470 Warren Road.

If you can't make it until after work, that's okay. It goes until 8pm. If you go, please share your experience with the rest of us who may not be able to make it.
