Got up and walked the dog, about 6am. In our neighborhood you have to get up early or it
is more like walking a dog in a dog park. Today we encountered the bunny that must have
starred in Monty Python's "Holy Grail"

Image
160lb mastiff, the bunny didn't care, he walked slowly across the sidewalk to another patch
of sweet clover, and started nibbling away. For five minutes we sat, and watched this rabbit
dare us to move. Finally the bunny left and we could continue.

Start this video for a little background music...

Back home got in the car to see if the Emerald Canyon Bald Eagles were moving about
when I spotted a couple deer coming out of the canyon by Sharkey's Hill...

Then they headed back down in the canyon.

Headed north I took a drive across town at about 6:30am looking for a cup of coffee.
Made it all the way to Highland Avenue when I noticed a police officer with lights on looking
for someone.

It seems according to those involved that this 60-year-old man from Brookpark, Ohio tried
to steal some beer from Walgreen's on Highland Avenue and Detroit Avenue. When the
clerk stopped him, they found the beer, as they were calling the police he took off into
Cleveland, where he was found and arrested.

New City of Lakewood possible theme song. (alternative music for these two photos)

Took a drive back to the canyon through the heart of the city. It was great seeing everyone
out going to church, and getting the show on the road. Ohhhhh that's right Lakewoodites
are giving up church for brew pubs! It is now socially unacceptable to wake up before 9am
or 10 am on the weekend.

As I get to the cliff, it is starting to rain.

Image
Dad pops in then takes off, while junior hops about pretending its flying.

Image
The baby actually appears to be larger than dad!

Then for the first time, I went down the cliff to the river, the rain picking up as this heron flew by.

Rain was coming down pretty hard by this point so I headed home.

Have a great Sunday.

Thanks for the early morning report, Jim. Nice job.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my opinion of Lakewood rabbits' awareness of their canine predators.

I understand where the term 'dumb bunny' comes from.

Dan

This morning, very early Beau and I encountered to the "dumb bunny." This time we sat I removed
his leash and whispered in his ear, "OK." And stood there laughing my ass off, he bunny suddenly
realized it was on, and took off, Beau in pursuit. Suddenly a second and a third bunny appeared,
and they all were running everywhere, Beau finally confused and exhausted came back, dejected.
As we walked home, I explained to him that he was developed to hunt bear not silly little bunnies
and do not take it personal.

One evening I was walking the dogs around Lincoln school when I noticed one of them was lagging more than usual. Without making a sound, she had reached into a bush, caught a rabbit and was shaking it to its reward. She was never outside the slack in the leash. Greyhounds have a special affinity for rabbits. I haven't seen one in my yard in a long time.

Don't tell the bad guys, but greyhounds are terrible watchdogs. They are big, though.
