This morning more of the Cleveland Orchestra, City of Lakewood Porchestra popped up
around town, all were packed with appreciative people. The Root Cafe, Nature's Bin, and
The Blackbird Baking Company pictured above had members of the Cleveland Orchestra
entertaining patrons. Mayor Summers with Wendy stopped by this show.

At the same time over on Westwood Ave, LakewoodAlive was proving once again thay
are much more than party planners! Allison Urbanek, LakewoodAlive's Housing Outreach
Director had another Housing Seminar: "Knowing Your Home: Tackling Porch Repairs &
Replacements" which considering the constant steady downpour, was well attended with over
50 people stopping by.

When the rains came the awnings came out, no one was going to leave! In a city filled with
80-100 year-old homes, we all need to know the secrets to keep them in great shape.

It is a great idea to have the seminars at places going through the actual work. Always
informative, these free seminars are always worth checking out.

Housing is a serious issue in Lakewood, and so is the maintenance. LakewoodAlive all too
often finds out just how bad some houses have been let go. They have many programs to
help all Lakewoodites with home repair, maintenance, and restoration. With many programs
that offer financial assistance. Call them today.

On a serious side note - Sometimes with Ian, Ken, and Allison and volunteers do such great
jobs with the many parties, parades, and fun events, we forget that LakewoodAlive also
has a serious side that can benefit residents in many ways.

If you get a chance, stop by and check out these seminars, or other fine projects they
are working on, LakewoodAlive can always use volunteers and donations.
