Thanks for stopping by and helping us spread the word on Lynch Syndrome Jim.

We chose March 22nd because it was the National Lynch Syndrome Hereditary Cancer Public awareness Day. We even had a Proclamation signed by Governor John Kasich.

We were so grateful to use the old West Gym at LHS for a second year in a row. Warm and dry, 21 laps to a mile, we walked for 24 hours. Support from our families, friends and the community was amazing!

We walked to celebrate life together.

We walked in memory of our loved ones that we miss dearly!

We walked in honor of those who have Lynch Syndrome and have fought or are fighting cancer.

We walked to raise awareness about Lynch Syndrome.

We walk to Protect Families and Save Lives.

We walked to celebrate Previvors, of which I am one and pray always to be one. Previvors are those who have Lynch Syndrome but have not had a cancer due to proactive medical care!

We walked for our caregivers, who take care of those affected by Lynch Syndrome.

We walked to Embrace Life Together!

THE VERY FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE IN THE SURVIVAL OF LYNCH SYNDROME IS KNOWING ONE'S FAMILY HISTORY. Lynch syndrome is inherited through families in an autosomal dominant manner. This means an inherited mutation of the mismatch repair gene, coupled with a normal gene will produce children that have an estimated 50-50 chance of contracting Lynch syndrome.

The ONLY way to diagnose Lynch syndrome effectively is first through a careful review of the family history. What the physician is looking for are three individuals, two of which are directly related to the third and who have sustained a Lynch cancer. (Colorectal Cancer, Endometrial Cancer, Gastric Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Hepatobiliary Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Ureter Cancer, Renal Pelvic Cancer, Skin Cancer (Muir Torre), Prostate Cancer, some subsets of Breast Cancer and Brain Cancer.)

This basically leads the physician to determine whether or not to prescribe genetic counseling and/or genetic testing which, if positive, allows individuals diagnosed with Lynch syndrome to obtain annual screening tests to detect cancers early, when they are often treatable and not life threatening.

Me and my girl Kellyn Donahoe, who's Special "gene" days are back to back. We celebrated World Down Syndrome day on 3/21 with Kellyn.

Folks could decorate a pair of "jeans" In Honor of or In Memory of a loved one touched by cancer.

Not sure I know exactly what Lynch is. But you are so passionate. I just put a check in the mail. I hope that helps. I'm getting to the age where I may not have to spend all my money to sustain myself in retirement....

Take care.... Tim
