Water Main Break @ Mars & Athens

The cold temps finally got to the pipes at Mars & Athens yesterday as water bubbled up and quickly froze into a dangerous ice slick. Crews were onsite working tirelessly into the night, but after breaking 2 drill bits while trying to fix the water main break, they finally had to call it quits until they could get a new part in to continue working this morning.
Kudos to the crew members for their attempts, and who were undoubtedly extremely uncomfortable as they were being sprayed with water in these freezing temperatures.
Unfortunately for the neighbors whose driveways run out onto Athens, the running water over night created a chaotic morning, with one having to pour buckets of hot water around their tires as the car had literally frozen into the ice!!!
Hoping the street gets cleaned up soon as it was quite treacherous, especially for all the students walking to Hayes Elementary this morning with school back in session!
