The Lakewood Observer has joined with Human Tribe, Inc. on “Liveable Lakewood©
to promote the city of Lakewood. Utilizing local views, locations, standouts, art history and
events, as captured by Lakewood photographers, artists, poets, and others. The first project
is a series of postcards that will be distributed for free through Lakewood businesses and non-profits.

Hopefully people will send them to friends and relatives, while highlighting their life and
visit to Lakewood. Slowly, one positive step at a time we define our brand and build a brand
that is amplified outside of our borders. Bringing in like minded people to keep this city
vibrant and on track to be all it can be.

These cards all celebrate Lakewood.

The cards are printed in quantities of 14,000 each to keep cost low, so we can afford to
give them out FREE. We are encouraging businesses and non-profits to use them as
promos, and or small ticket moneymakers at events that benefit the city we all love.

The LO is putting a call to all Lakewood Photographers, Artists, Poets, etc. To submit their
work, and ideas to this project, and help amplify just how great Lakewood is. We are
looking to release sets monthly, though we will see how these go. They will be distributed
through the same channels.

Submit to this thread, or send to the LO Offices, 14900 Detroit Ave. 205.

Let's be honest, it is ridiculous, being a destination city with no postcards!

Bill,

Very cool.

I was surprised to hear folks talking on the streets this past week about how they want to collect these post cards instead of send them out.

Bill

I got into postcard collecting about 30 years ago. I would take my Uncle to various postcard shows
from St, Louis, to Atlanta, to New York City. He collected "Great Lakes Freighters," almost exclusively.

I started to collect , "exaggeration," Caves before 1940, and prison postcards sent by prisoners,
to name but a few.

So when we sat down to work on these I knew all the tricks to make them collectable, and to get
a feel for what is going on out there.

Great fun.
