Who Runs The “Lakewood Observer” Facebook Page?

Does anyone know who runs the “Lakewood Observer” Facebook page?

Some of the threads from the Deck make it to the “Lakewood Observer” Facebook page.

Some threads do not.

Who decides what Deck threads make it to the “Lakewood Observer” Facebook page?

And, who is this faux “Lakewood Observer” person commenting on the various posts on the “Lakewood Observer” Facebook page?

Why can posts on the “Lakewood Observer” Facebook page be edited or deleted by this “Lakewood Observer” person and others, but posts can't be edited or deleted here on the Deck?

The “Lakewood Observer” Facebook page looks a lot like the “Lakewood Ward 3” Facebook page that has been deleted or hidden.

It was hard to figure out who was running that Facebook page, too.

Oh, and who runs "The Lakewood Observer" Facebook page?

We have been through this many times. But I will do it again, no problem.

I am one of 6 administrators for the Lakewood Observer, face book page. Anyone of the 6
can move items over to it. Those appear as "Lakewood Observer" when comments are made
about posts, they should come from the individual, not "Lakewood Observer." However as
we are all volunteers mistakes do happen.

"The Lakewood Observer" is a place holder site, after some Lakewoodites, one your friend I
believe tried to hijack the name. It is plainly marked as a "Placeholder" with the only post
I think, pointing to "Lakewood Observer."

Why is there a problem?

Well, since you asked so nicely. :)

I take The Lakewood Observer project very seriously.

It is an important part of keeping Lakewood honest.

The most important rule for The Lakewood Observer is "real names."

I understand that folks who post on the "Lakewood Observer" Facebook page may have faux names.

But, your six volunteers should know that they can't jump in as "Lakewood Observer" and comment away.

Just because they are volunteers doesn't mean they have an excuse to "forget" how to use their real names.

Is the Lakewood Ward 3 FaceBook page hidden/deleted or are you and me just blocked for engaging in some good discussion?

Funny.

It was represented to be run by City Hall.

It was represented to be a public forum run by City Hall.

It was represented to be a public forum run by City Hall on behalf of the Ward 3 Councilman.

Then, you and I questioned things going on in the 'Wood ... and ...

"Oh, there is a Lakewood Ward 3 Facebook page?"

The 'Wood is so funny.

Scary funny at times.

I, too, am one of Lakewood Observer Facebook page administrators. When an administrator goes to the LO FB page, he/she is by default set up to make comments as "Lakewood Observer". There is the option for admins to switch from "LO" to their own personal FB identity/account ... and it is incumbent upon admins to be mindful of who they are signed-in as. I know I have slipped up once or twice when making comments and not made the switch ... then I catch myself; delete the comment, and repost the comment as me/Peter.

Matt

Scary funny, or scary ignorant.

I always find it amusing when people hold us to a higher standard than city hall. There
has been two complete turnovers at City Hall since this project was started.

Interesting Comparisons Always Worth Talking About.

1) Free Speech - City Hall and Employees representing themselves as "members of city
hall" 100% FREE SPEECH in any opf those venues that allow comments, or posting. All
guards must remain off. City Hall sponsored projects, sites, and the sites of officials cannot
block, change or alter any comment made, posted, or shared.

Lakewood Observer - Free Speech protects the paper and the ability to print nearly
anything that is not libelous, or slanderous. It has no impact on what we choose to print,
or allow on this Deck. This is a private enterprise using no tax dollars.

Non-profits - It is still up for debate if Non-Profit Groups like LakewoodAlive, LHS Alumni,
Beck Center etc. have the ability to censor or delete posts that are in places that sllow
people to post.

We both know that the now infamous Ward 3 Facebook Page (possibly run by Czech
Republic flunkies) was illegal and should have been sued for 1st Amendment reasons,
among other reasons.

Actually I find it almost outrageous that City and City Officials have chosen Facebook as
their "official source" when you have to turn over personal information to a for profit
business before getting access. This is not to say they should not have a presence on
Facebook and Twitter, they should. They should just realize to do anything but post news
opens them to a world of 1st Amendment laws.

Next Wednesday I am meeting with one of the top 1st Amendment lawyers in the
country, who I have had some casual conversations with, and has taken an interest, into
how the city handles public record requests, disseminating news, and officials and the
means they have chosen to hyper control their messages.

Stay tuned, or join us for lunch.

Jim,

I agree with you, again.

But, in fairness to the folks at City Hall, they may have been awarded the "Twitter for Twits Grant" so that may explain why Mayor Siley tweets his every move.

Or is it twerking?

It's all so confusing.

In the interest of fairness, see the post entitled, “Who Runs The 'City of Lakewood, Ohio' Facebook Page?” at http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12243.
