Where do you get your news in the 'Wood?

anywhere I can get it. Since I am always in need of newspapers for the dogs, I tend to get the news from print. (oh yeah if anyone has any newspapers they don't need...i will gladly take them for the kennel runs/puppies)

The Lakewood Observer is the only print media that I read for Lakewood news.

Then, there are also various Facebook news feeds and other online news resources that are good for news blasts.

I imagine I will break down and get a Twitter account around the 4th of July to see whether the fireworks will go off as planned.

I pick up my Lakewood news from LO, Observation Deck, sometimes one of those PD subsidiary west side thingies, and that old reliable source: the grape vine.

[I'm actually a lifelong Kamm's Corners resident, but have always felt a part of Lakewood as much as western Cleveland, even though the construction of I-90 created a barrier (which tells you how far back I go). Besides, my father had his offices in Lakewood from the '70's until his death as I had my business here until recently downsizing into a home office.]

The one Lakewood news source I've never really patronized is the Patch. Although Colin McEwen has always been the most pleasant and delightful fellow, I just could never support the Patch endeavor as a matter of principle.

I wish Colin the best however, since recent news has revealed that he's discovered the less-advertised benefits of international corporate dedication to Our Local Community (TM)-- Efficiency, downsizing and impoverishment For The Benefit of All (also TM).

So, what's next for news in the 'Wood?

City Hall helped create The Lakewood Observer, which appears to be a Lakewood news and information platform owned by Lakewood residents.

City Hall actively participated in sharing news with The Lakewood Observer in the past. For example, the Ed FitzGerald, Shawn Juris, and Kevin Butler posts were great!

Then, when The Lakewood Observer starting asking that City Hall be even more accountable and transparent, City Hall appeared to stop sharing news with The Lakewood Observer and, instead, sent virtually all its news to The Patch, which appears to be a national news and information platform owned by AOL.

Now that The Patch has abandoned Lakewood … as we all knew it would, where will City Hall share its news?

Will City Hall just take the “no news is good news" approach?
