A Taxpayer Subsidized Heinens?

Someone in the construction industry who is doing work at the new County Admin building tells me that the new Heinens in the Ameritrust Building will be receiving back door financing and material support through the construction budget of the new County Admin Building.

Downtown has taxpayer subsidized:

Hotels
Art Museums
Plays
Restaurants
Apartments
Condo's
Offices
Baseball teams
Basketball teams
Football teams

and lets not forget chandeliers!

In a region with a declining population such subsidies do not create economic activity they just move it around. Why is that a good thing?

In yesterdays PD Bret Larkin wrote that only 9,000 people showed up to the last Indians game. Has it ever occurred to these guys that their is only so much disposable income out there?

Has anyone added up what the AMERITRUST FIASCO has cost and will cost the taxpayers? And I'm not just talking about the dollar cost, but also the opportunity cost.

Does someone in County government have an unnatural attraction to that building?
