Hi All,
Happy Beautiful Sunday.
Here's the letter from Treasurer James Estle regarding Monday's Board of Ed meeting, with the agenda following.
Attached is the Agenda for the regular meeting of the Lakewood Board of Education being held on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at the Grant Elementary School Gymnasium, 1470 Victoria Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107. The Board will take action on the agenda items that were discussed at the September 3 meeting.
James Estle
Treasurer
Check out Item B under The Superintendent's Report.
If you are interested in hearing about Lakewood High School's national grant for a new "school within a school" teaching model, you should attend this meeting. For those who know about "Maker" Fairs, this is a model for a "Maker" school, where all curriculum is incorporated in hands-on real-life projects.
If you are one of Lakewood's almost a thousand home-schooling or "un-schooling" families-- this model might be of interest to you. Lakewood is one of three districts in the country, and the ONLY public school district, that received this grant, and hearing about it is exciting.
National educators will have their eyes on Lakewood to see how we do with implementing this cutting edge 21st century school, NEXT FALL.
The details aren't all worked out but this is the beginning. This is a great chance to hear our own amazing Lakewood educational innovators describe it, as it's on its way to coming to life.
See you at the Board Meeting.
