Leon Bibb says this week is the 60th anniversary of West 117th street blowing up.

It is hard to believe there were 194 industrial businesses on that street.
It was dangerous to dump so many chemicals into the sewers.
It is safer to dump them into the river. that way, even if they catch fire there is no explosion.
