Distraught Jumper Talked Of The Ledge - Good Work LPD!

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Labor Day, a young man age 24 was distraught and thinking of harming himself. Lakewood
Police were called and the young man headed towards the cliffs of the Emerald Canyon,
where Lakewood Police would talk to him, as he would climb out on the 250' cliff, and
threaten to jump. Ironically the place he was choosing to jump is to my knowledge, the
only place a person has died going over the edge. It is extremely steep with a free fall of
about 125' to the river bed below.

After engaging with the troubled youth for over an hour, he was finally talked in, and taken
in for observation.

GREAT JOB LAKEWOOD POLICE AND LAKEWOOD FIRE DEPARTMENTS!

If you know someone that is having trouble, sit down, talk, help them seek help.
