Lakewood Car Kulture Show 2013 Wrap! What a Street Party!
Posted: Mon Aug 19, 2013 8:14 am
Well this past Saturday was the 11th Car Kulture Show in Lakewood. It has taken on
massive dimensions and continues to grow, and grow and grow, while also defining and
branding the city of Lakewood far and wide. While many shows dream big, Jerry
Koenigsmark has had this plotted since day one with his first conversations with Chris
Andrews (Madison Village). Jerry, a member of the "Choppers" (Cleveland's oldest and
most prestigious car club), new that despite many other ideas, that if he stayed true to his
core beliefs it would grow.

This photo was taken at 1pm and shows the crowd that was around most of the day.
Jerry is always quick to give the city of Lakewood it well earned Kudos as a partner of this
event as they have pretty much, let the Show do as it planned since it was proven they
knew what they were doing and were a responsible member of the summer party scene.
When changed from Madison Village to the area between Hillard and Madison, the city
completely understood as it had grown out of the Madison Village area, the city of
Lakewood were more than willing to make the change. The show has gotten to be that
important. Why, well besides the possible 10,000 plus visitors, Cars, Bikes and car culture
is something that both young and old like and do together. So thousands of young people
and families descend on the city for a day of walking around and saying, "Damn this city
really has it act together." When partnered with other summer events like the Arts Festival,
Summer Meltdown and Fourth of July it provides a stage for the city to be seen again and
again in a very positive progressive light that is inviting to new residents and businesses.

The vendors were supposed to show up at 8:30am, the cars at 10am, and the people at
11am. However while having breakfast at The Coffee Pot on Madison at 8am, you could
see a steady stream of rods and bikes were already streaming past.

So when I got to set up at 9:30, the place was already filled with Cars and people! This is
how popular the show has gotten. People coming 3 hours early to get prime spots where
they planned to me other car people. "Can't set up here I have 10 cars coming in." Said
someone with a flamed out Corvette. "Not here I got 20 cycles coming!" said another.
Cars and clubs coming from Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and
even further, as the show has massive dra[img]w as the place to be at.

By 11am, the car limit was hit, and the police started to turn away cars and bikes. Still
many chose to wait in line while the police would call and say 1 left, let another in. And
then you would hear an engine rumble to life and it would make its way down Madison
Avenue looking for the small spot to park.
