Beating A Dead Horse At The Emergency Room

A women I know called her Cleveland Clinic doctor over the weekend about a health issue. The Clinic doctor told her to go to the emergency room in Avon even though the patient lived in Lakewood and the doctor knew she lived in Lakewood. The doctors explanation was that you would get faster service in Avon.
I suspect that the doctor gave good advice. Even allowing for travel time you can get quicker service in Avon.
I was at the Lakewood Community Health Center (aka Lakewood Hospital) last week for some routine blood work. I was the only one in the waiting room and the last person to sign in was long gone. I waited 25 minutes.
At some point incompetence isn't really incompetence and bad customer service isn't bad customer service. It's policy.
