Thanks to the quick work of Lakewood Police and Fire a Meth Lab on Quail was busted up.

While cooking down ingredients in a small pot, three people in a Qual Ave. it became
suspicious to the neighbors when one of the three caught himself on fire and jumped out
the window running down the street while trying to put the fire out.

When the Fire, and then the police arrived they found the small Meth Lab, rounded up
the other two individuals, and and took them off to jail. So while one sits at MEtro Burn
Unit the other two wait for their day in court.

"Meth has never been a problem in Lakewood" said Mayor Michael P. Summers, "So it came
as a shock that we had a lab."

Good work Lakewood Fire and Police.

It's interesting that the Mayor would say that, because at Monday's Public Safety Comittee meeting, Chief Malley mentioned heroin as one of the major growing problem in Lakewood.

Crystal Meth has very little to do with Heroin. Opposite ends of the drug spectrum. Heroin
has been a growing problem in America and the world since the US invaded Afghanistan. The
week we went into Afghanistan, they started to plant opium poppies. What has largely been
missing from many discussions about our war in the MidEast is the fact that the Taliban had
outlawed Opium production. Afghanistan had fallen from the second largest source of opium
poppies to almost a non-existence. Since we went in the price has continuously fallen until
right now it is at records lows.

This would be similar to the price of cocaine during the Contra wars in South America. Well
documented in Operation Midnight is that the USA was using profits from Cocaine to fund
that illegal war.

Mayor Summers mentioned the Heroin problem, but it has ZERO impact on this story. Meth is a low
level drug used by the same sort of consumer in general that would use inhalants etc. To
deal Heroin, you have to have access to a pretty high source of connections, and be much
more of a "business person." For a Crystal Meth lab, you need an internet conenction, and
a bunch of stuff bought at Drug Mart or CVS Pharmacy. So in fact it all works together.

I do not want you or anyone to think that Mayor Summers was not forthcoming in talking
about this or the Drug War.

Thanks for the update ... and pardon my ingnorance. I was under the impression meth and heroin were closely related.

Heinen's and Giant Eagle doesn't sell a bunch of that stuff, too?

I am thinking no, though I could be wrong.

I cannot remember when a "grocery store" has been mentioned in connection with Meth
production. However Meth Labs have been found in the bathrooms of WalMart and the aisle
of an open Dollar style store a couple months ago. Maybe Heinin's after a stop at Wing's
Hobby Shop or Lakewood Hardware.

I have zero knowledge of how to make Crystal Meth. I have just never heard the term
available at your grocery store, but have often heard discount and walmart.

I am thinking something to burn or melt, you need that torch.

I have never said that Dollar General or WalMart are not respectable. I believe can be
quoted as say "Dollar General" is a good community partner, an WalMart is similar to
cancer or the Donner Party. For the record.

My only initial observation is that at least in Lakewood we have a more upscale set of participants as evidenced by good teeth.

Other than that I don't think that you can make any definitive characterization based on this one incident.

Improvised meth labs are known for exploding.

Here is the story.

Many years ago, I was the front desk manager at Holiday Inn Express in Columbus. There was a Comfort Inn motel across the parking lot. Both were owned by the same company.

One day I was getting into work and noticed police and emergency crews finishing up some work at the Comfort Inn. An improvised meth lab had exploded in one of the rooms. And so, many of the guests who had not left, fled, or been arrested transferred to my motel. They were hanging out in the breakfast room, lobby, and hallways.

They told me they were in town for a Euchre Tournament.

And so, that is how I learned Euchre players like to go for three days without sleeping.

Euchre apparently demands a lot of attention: some of the Euchre Players kept asking me to keep an eye out for their girlfriends showing up, and to tell the girlfriends they were not there if they did.

Why do meth when you can just make Lean.

Why didn't the autopsy report DXM in his system? It's part of the tox screen.

There is absolutely NO evidence that Martin used, was using, or planning to use DXM.

in addition, products containing dextromethorphan are restricted in most stores in Florida, as well as elsewhere. You must be over 18, provide ID, and amounts are limited.
