Here are the details:

The laugh out loud part of the article:

"It will likely be a community hospital, but will not duplicate service of its nearby medical centers, Eileen Sheil, executive director of corporate communications said."
If that were true then the Clinic would not be transferring all of their Lakewood doctors to Avon. This is so sad.

In a recent email exchange I had with the Mayor I asked about "Lakewood Hospital". The response included reference to "a community health service center".

Over the past few years the Clinic has engaged in a deliberate policy to destroy Lakewood Hospital. That's a restraint of trade if ever there was one. The people of this town deserve at least one billion dollars in compensation for that fraud.

Can the citizens take action on their own or should we wait for Council or The Lakewood Hospital Foundation to take a stand?

What would be included in the new Lakewood Community Health Center? My prediction is that it would consist primarily of two people at a desk providing directions to Avon. After all, it's only twenty minutes away.

How much can a City take? Will anyone speak up for the City? Will anyone express outrage at the subterfuge? Will anyone go after our $1 billion dollars in damages for the Clinics restraint of trade?

I already know the answer and so do you.

Bill in the past two weeks I have noticed two people injured seriously, one Joe Milan
critically. Joe is bleeding out, with legs crushed, and he is taken to Metro Hospital.

The woman on I-90 is taken to Fairview.

Both are closer to Lakewood, both with injuries.

Did Joe end up at Metro because of? Insurance?

Why did the other get Fairview?

Why no one to Lakewood's emergency room?

If you talk behind the scenes many in Lakewood talk of the clinic leaving while whispering
that they know they are leaving.

While the clinic has upped ads in other Observers, in Lakewood they are cutting back.
We can get Fairview ads, but...

A couple of years ago I applied for a spot on the Lakewood Hospital Board. During the interview process one member of council expressed disdain for my opinion that the Clinic had plans to dismantle and abandon Lakewood Hospital. He said that Lakewood Hospital would always be a hospital and would always be in Lakewood.

I don't know if he was willfully blind, willfully ignorant or willfully deceitful.

A couple of years ago the Clinic demanded that the Lakewood Hospital Foundation empty its treasury to build a new emergency room. The Clinic promised to make the emergency room a 21st century facility. Shortly after completion of the project the Clinic announced plans to move virtually all emergency room activity from Lakewood to Fairview Hospital. Was the Clinic really that dumb or were they really that clever?

One of the funniest aspects of this deceitful Clinic gambit is that the enterprise in Avon is being funded by Cuyahoga County taxpayers.

Lakewood Hospital used to publish vital statistics like number of emergency room visits, number of surgeries and payroll taxes paid. Is that information still available?

If we had competitive elections in this town this subject would be tops on the list of election issues. It's all so sad.

How much can a City take?

From Fire Chief Scott Gillman

Both patients mentioned on the deck today went to those hospitals based on injury. Where some types of patients go is determined by our treatment protocols not proximity to a hospital. The protocols are established by the doctors, paramedics, fire chiefs and are based on what is best for a patient. They are developed on a regional bases following nationally recognized standards and guidelines from the state. The influence off CCF or University Hospitals does not enter into those decisions.
