our cat, brothers dog - first meeting
did not last long.

Jim,
What do you mean, "did not last long"? Who cooled on the relationship first?

did not last long -
9 yr old cat w/sharp nails and a 7 wk old puppy -
she kinda lost her patiences quickly, maybe she did not like
the puppy breath, but the dog was lucky to come out of it without a scratch.
if I would have let the puppy try and play with her I'm sure I would have
been wiping up blood of the floor and her face.
