Stan,

I haven't read any police updates from you in a while. Did the new police communication system knock you offline?

They did not give Stan internet privileges from his cell block.

Ryan--- thanks for asking. Yea---when the LPD went to the new digital radios last week it made my and everyone else's old scanners instantly obsolete.
First, let me say that I think it's a great thing that Lakewood is able to provide the resources to keep our first responders with the most up to date equipment available. But, back to your original question-- as you know I'm up at all kinds of weird hours and used to listen to the scanner. I'd be able to post items of interest such as the foiled attempt of copper theft at a church several weeks ago at 3:30 AM.
Can't do that anymore :(
A new scanner costs anywhere from $400 to $600. I just can't justify -personally-spending that much on a radio much as I think I'm providing readers on the Deck with timely info.
In fact, I think I'd have to donate to the puppies and kittens orphan fund first before I could justify spending that kind of money!!!
Any ideas Ryan (or even Corey)?
Stan

I think we need to put on a fundraising event for Stan to help him maintain the wondeful public service he provides those of us who live in The Wood!

You rock, Stan!

Jim,

You have friends in high places. Can you one that Stan can borrower for official Lakewood Observer purposes? :)

There are free police scanner apps that say they carry more than 3,000 pd's. Is Lakewood one of them? Might be worth looking into.

Somebody please wake up Stan and tell him he has a few of the suggestions that he asked for.

I just found that since Lakewood is on the new system it is broadcast via an android app named scanner radio by gordon edwards. It streams along with Bay Village, Westlake and RR. The nice part is they split the audio so you can just listen to Lakewood by adjusting the software to only play out of the right speaker. It is a FREE app if you have an android device.

Ryan

I gave Stan the one he has been using and Stan and I have spoken about new ones.

It is being streamed online, though I know of attempts to get that stopped.

There are apps for both the iphone and android.

Ryan, I believe that stream is still the old analog West Shore VHF feed.
Those communities must still use those frequencies at least occasionally.
Lakewood has always had some of those VHF allocations too.
However, before switching to digital, Lakewood PD was heard on 460.075 mHz.
I have never found that being streamed that I know of.
Hopefully, our new digital MARCs feed will eventually be available somewhere on the web.

Stan operates on his own frequency, so this should work out well.
