One of the things I have always loved about Quaker Steak and Lube was their dedication
and love of cars and motorcycles. Their Bike Nights have become legendary with every
biker in America. Attracting hundreds if not thousands of bikers to an area, so that others
can see and hear the amazing sound of Ducatis, Moto Guzzis, Harleys etc at full throttle.

At first Lakewood QSL had shied away from this weekly event, but now they have fit it in
so that it does not clash with any other bike night at the other QSLs which should provide
Lakewood with as much traffic as it can handle.

Parties, Contests, DJ and fun fun fun till daddy takes the keys away!!!!!!

Thank you QSL!!!

While I am super excited for this and I truly mean that, I cannot wait to hear all the "naysayers" .... UGH. And to say how excited I am, I grew up with a Harley IN my dining room during the winter months because "baby" could not be out in the cold. I have pictures of me standing in front of the Harley with my new Christmas bear.

I am sure there will be many people uncomfortable with hundreds of bikes, and hopefully
car night too thundering down Detroit, but these people know how to party and spend
money. Monday has been slow around here, well no more!!! I have been to bike night at
QSL Sheffield Lake and I am willing to bet there was over 1,000 bikes there with hundreds
coming and going all night long. It gets so crazy and crowded other places have set up
nearby just to take on the overflow.

The only reason Deb and I went to QSL was for car night and bike night. Now the party
comes to Lakewood!

This is great news!.

This will be a great night for me to practice my photography. Just got a new camera and now can't wait to start taking pictures. I love a good bike night!!! If I was stronger and bigger I would get myself a motorcycle...then again I do trip over air so that might not be a good thing. LOL.

Good, we need SOMETHING to drown out all the noise those damn Kauffman Park basketballers make!

As an official "naysayer", I am really, really, really glad we don't live right near QSL. Thankfully, neither do too many people as they are far enough away from most residents.

They may bring money but no amount of money can make up for the noise in an area. I hope nobody has a restless sleep because of bike night.

That's ok, I've been called worse.

:D

Just my opinion and realize it is contrary to others. If I recall, this was QSL's first foray into an urban area. The other QSLs are either in suburban areas or airports/arenas that don't have bike night.

I know bike night is a huge success for them and understand why they want one in Lakewood. As mentioned above, though, I'm glad we don't live right near QSL.

Each and every basketball hoop in Our City is torn down; but smoking patios are allowed front and center, up and down Detroit and Madison Avenues. What are Our Young People to think?

The choice of Monday night as bike night is unfortunate, given that to be the meeting night of a Masonic lodge next door. Masonic Lodges in Ohio do generally close over the summer, but there will be a few weeks of potential conflict of interest here.

Lakewood Lodge, number 601, Free and Accepted Masons, has been a part of Lakewood for over a century now; first meeting on the Northeast corner of Warren and Detroit until their Masonic Temple was completed.

Ironically, the guys from the Lodge have enjoyed fellowship at QSAL. Hopefully, all will be worked out in due course.

Back to the banjo...

Oops, I meant to say that that the Lodge originally met upstairs on the northWEST corner of Warren and Detroit.

I knew that. Honest I did. :D

That's possibly why I majored in Poli Sci and not Geography. :D

Back to the banjo...

Matt,

We live in a city.

Join us on our Belle Avenue porch some evening.

It is great sport to watch doctors, patients, visitors, residents, tourists, and Steve Davis use Belle Avenue as a 55 MPH “through street” while they dodge potholes and blare music.

And, Peter, you are invited, too.

Just joking, Steve.

Jim,

Finally … here is something that we can both agree on!

And kudos to City Hall for letting “Bike Night” come to Lakewood.

In speaking with some folks at QS&L when it first opened, City Hall was “allegedly” putting the squeeze on QS&L to not “encourage” or “publicize” bike nights.

The “hush-hush” was somewhat surprising since bike nights have, after all, been openly discussed for some time now. See, e.g., http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10814; http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8777.

And all the money being spent on new lights on Arthur Avenue now makes more sense.

Bikers will have a “well-lit” path on their way home from QS&L Bike Night!

I now have a reason to go to QS&L on Monday nights.

Thanks, QS&L!

Matt
