Subject: Phone Scam
Good morning, I am following up on attempted phone scams in the Ward One area. Most of the calls have been in the Ward One area South of Madison Ave. They seem to be targeting females over the age of 80. As of this time I am unaware of anyone giving out their personal information.
The caller/callers, have been calling citizens and advising them they have someone detained or under arrest for attempting to cash checks in their names (checks for between $9000.00 and $25,000). They need their information for the investigation. So far everyone has been unwilling to give out any personal information.
If you have been contacted or know of someone who has been contacted please let me know. I am doing the report for this incident. At this point I have six females who have been contacted and betting there are a few more out there. Thank you for your time in this matter.
Respectfully
Ptl. Ted Morley

Some good news;
1. The rumor floating around that Lakewood Hospital is moving to Crocker Park is not true.
The City owns the Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic has leased it to December 26, 2026.
Mayor Summers stated that evolving health care practices [shorter hospital stays, more
out-patient procedures, more preventive care and the growth of the elderly portion of the
population] are items that are on the Mayor's agenda in discussion with the Clinic.
2. There are currently only 90 of the approximately 31,000 one and two family homes
on the market in Lakewood today.
3. The building department classified 1,300 homes with a "4" rating [In need of the most
work] last year. 400 of these homes have already brought their homes up to code. The
remaining 900 will be the focus starting with letters going out shortly. Less than half of
these properties are doubles. Lakewood Alive will continue to work with single family
owners that can't afford to bring there homes up to code.
4. A Captains/informational meeting is scheduled for April 2nd in the City Hall Auditorium at
7:00. Ward One Officer Ted Morley will give a presentation on kids and cyber crimes. A
Q & A and discussion will follow. Captains are invited to give helpful tips about
maintaining Block Clubs
