Arthur Avenue Lighting Debate Moves to Council of Whole
The Arthur Ave decorative enhancements conversation has moved to the Council of the Whole which meets on Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in City Hall Auditorium. Still needing discussion is the terminology "necessary repairs." According to Councilperson Bullock, the term is required legalese. Here is his reply to my question: We can discuss the wording in the Resolution of Necessity at next Monday's committee meeting. One of your neighbors who spoke Monday night did bring up this topic, and the Law Director spoke to it as well. I have your issue noted down, along with other concerns from other neighbors who disagree with the project, and I will bring these up at the Committee meeting, as I promised to do, for more in depth discussion. So you know, the "Resolution of Necessity" phrasing is a legal term dictated by the legally required process. Separate from that is the question of whether people consider the project to be "necessary" in a plain English sense of the term; different people have different views on that question.
