LO_09_05 Online and On The Streets
One fifth of the way through the year already! But once again we have hit on just a great issue, and it is all so positive and oh so Lakewood.
We celebrate the schools with the state report card coming back with 5 schools getting Excellent marks and 2 schools getting Excellent with Distinction. This is great news. Also on the front page is the news that Lakewood Public Library is once again ranked one of the best in the nation! This underlines Lakewood's constant dedication to education and community intelligence--something I hope we never grow tired of, and continue to support.
Then comes four great events from the many good volunteers that also make this city great. "Welcome To Lakewood," which sees the Lakewood Family Collaborative, the City of Lakewood and the Lakewood Observer partner to welcome new residents to Lakewood and amplify what we love about this city. Also, Lakewood Earth And Food, LEAF will host their Open House <x-apple-data-detectors://0>March 10 to show what they are about and sign people up for their great programs that underline our commitment to Food Security and Urban Farming. Friends of Lakewood Library Book sale put on by Friends of the Lakewood Library who have helped the library so much this letter could never do them justice, and the new LOKOL Public Forum, which is a Lakewood Observer conversation with non-profits, elected officials, and stand-out leaders in the community. LO's new Community Outreach Editor Peter Grossetti will be hosting these meetings. The first is with LakewoodAlive's director Ian Andrews, which should provide a great discussion between the Lakewood Observer and LakewoodAlive.
And that is just page one of this epic issue!
Damn I love this city.
Support the School Levy,
Jim
