Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board meets tonight

The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board will meet Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 6:00 PM at University of Akron Lakewood (14725 Detroit Avenue)
On the agenda:
1.) Discussion of The Historic Preservation Ordinance; how it recognizes Lakewood’s buildings and neighborhoods and helps to retain the distinctive features of our building stock.
2.) Sharing of maps showing construction by decade citywide and Potential Historic Districts as recommended by LHAB.
3.) Updates from the city’s Community Vision.
About The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board
LCO 1337.01 ESTABLISHMENT; PURPOSE.
The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board is hereby established to serve in an advisory capacity for the purpose of educating, informing and making recommendations to City officials, departments, boards and commissions and the community on matters relating to historic preservation. (Ord. 50-95. Passed 7-17-95.)
LCO 1337.02 MEMBERSHIP; TERMS.
The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board shall be composed of seven electors of the City, to be appointed in the manner hereinafter set forth: two appointments shall be made by the Mayor; two appointments shall be made by Council; two appointments shall be made by the Lakewood Historical Society; and one appointment shall be made by the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce. The terms of said members shall be determined by the Board in accordance with its bylaws. However, no term shall exceed a period of four years. Upon expiration of any individual term, appointment or re-appointment shall be in accordance with this section. (Ord. 50-95. Passed 7-17-95.)
1337.03 MISSION STATEMENT; BYLAWS AND GENERAL RULES OF OPERATION.
The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board shall be authorized to adopt its own mission statement, bylaws and general rules of operation, which shall be consistent with this chapter, all other ordinances and the Second Amended Charter of the City and the laws of the State. (Ord. 50-95. Passed 7-17-95.)
1337.04 ASSISTANCE FROM DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT AND BUILDING COMMISSIONER.
The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board shall be authorized to call upon the Department of Planning and Development and the Building Commissioner for assistance in carrying out the purposes set forth in this chapter. (Ord. 50-95. Passed 7-17-95.).
1337.05 REPORTS TO MAYOR AND COUNCIL.
The Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board shall report on its activities to the Mayor and Council on not less than an annual basis. (Ord. 50-95. Passed 7-17-95.)
