Peter,
Hell has not frozen over. The city and schools have held these joint meetings (usually annually) for many years.
Maybe someone will ask one of these bodies of elected officials if they are willing to change the Monday they meet so citizens can attend city council and school board meetings every month.

Kristine - my comment was only to elicit a response/reaction from readers. (guess it did!) (and note the cutesy, humorous winky-face )
Here is a paraphrased summary of what I have been able to informally garner regarding meeting concurrently on the same night ...
City Council: "we have been meeting this way ever since the 1960's" Board of Education: "we don't want them (council) sticking their nose into our business."

Hi Peter--
Do you know if anyone has ever formally, officially, asked at either a City Council or School Board meeting for the Council or the Board to consider changing their meeting time?
Kristine is right. Tonight, with everyone there together, would be a good time for someone to do it. Do you know if there is an appointed part of the meeting where the public can comment or ask questions?

The published agenda does not indicate public comment opportunity.

At the City Council/BOE Joint Meeting I encouraged Mr Favre and Mr Powers to consider having a discussion about changing one or both bodies' meeting day/time so that Our Fellow Lakewood Brothers and Sister have the opportunity to attend both meetings rather than having to make a decision about which meeting to attend. I followed up with an email to both.

Hey Peter, that's great.
Please keep us informed regarding the response you get to that email. I heard that the request was made at the meeting and that it was received in a "non-committal" way. So I have to ask you, how do you think they felt about it?
Thanks for following through on this.
This song is dedicated to City Council and the School Board working together with the community.
"Connection" by Elastica. I'm picturing everyone at that meeting dancing together. Pretty cool.

It was at the end of a very long but well-presented meeting. Not sure how they (Ed Favre and Brian Powers) "felt" ... but I felt good getting it out there. (Did you minor in psychology--with all your "feeling" questions? )
btw .. I am putting together some wrap-up observations on the meeting. It wll be posted here in another thread Stay tuned.
