Lakewood schools looking for 3rd grade "GT" teacher

Great news from the grapevine over the weekend, for those concerned about the fact that our elementary gifted program seems to be shrinking every year. (Especially if your children attend Grant school, which as the most centrally-located school in the District is probably the best place for a magnet gifted program, but onward, for now.)
Our beloved 2/3 GT-- now 3rd grade since we no longer have 2nd grade GT ("Gifted and Talented" called "The Discovery Program" in Lakewood) is retiring this year. Mrs. Bluemel is one of the most amazing teachers I've ever seen and it is terrible to see her go.
As we've watched the program go from 2-5 GT in 3 schools, Lincoln, Grant and Emerson, to just one 3rd grade at Emerson, and two 4/5's at Emerson and Lincoln, everyone was worried that 3rd grade was being phased out entirely.
With the news that a "wanted" ad is out, it looks like this is not the case.
Hooray Lakewood City Schools for continuing to support this fantastic program in the elementary schools.
