Hello all, I'm looking for a little help from any of you Lakewood Library elves out there. Can anyone tell me if the Lakewood Library's e-books are suitable for both the Kindle and Nook? I'm thinking of getting one for a voracious reader I have here at home but wanted to make sure it worked well with whatever format they had over there. So if you could share any pros & cons you know about, I would be most appreciative.

thanks

Bret,

Lakewood Public Library participates in the statewide "Ohio E-Book Library" to provide our patrons with ebooks and audio ebooks.

To answer your question directly, yes, both the Kindle and Nook are supported. However, some titles in the catalog are only available in certain formats, or can only be read on certain devices. You have to search or browse each individual title to check compatibility.

Here is a link to the library's guide to using the Ohio E-Book Library catalog and service (which is powered by Overdrive): http://www.lakewoodpubliclibrary.org/eb ... rdrive.htm

Also, here is a link to the Device Resource Center, which lists all of the devices supported by the OEP and Overdrive, including help files for each device: http://www.overdrive.com/resources/drc/

Finally, to get to the catalog, you can just go to the library's home page, www.lakewoodpubliclibrary.org and click on the link in the lower right hand corner. That will take you to the catalog site for the entire OEP collection.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please be sure to give us a call at 216-226-8275 ext 127.

Took me a while to figure this one out but there are tons of titles available. Usually have to get on a waiting list but it is kind of nice to get a notification that a book is ready and it doesn't take long for a book to become available. Downloading takes seconds. The kindle comes with a free Amazon prime membership for a month, I think. It is another way to borrow books from Amazon. I believe the cost is $80 a year after your preview month but you get free shipping, ability to borrow books and stream tv/movies. Love my kindle. It has been to Europe and many states because it so easy to pack!
