Mayor's Ball, Steve Ott Given Key To The City

Last night was the Fifth Annual Mayor's Ball held to raise funds for the Beck Center and
Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corp. and as always fun was had by all. This year Steve Ott,
a person that has given much of his life to helping those in Lakewood, through various associations,
like Boy Scouts and other programs, events, and had the hottest seat in the city the past 8
years sitting on the Boards of both LakewoodAlive and the Lakewood Observer was given
the Key to the City of Lakewood by longtime friend, and partner in many of these projects,
Mayor Michal P. Summers. It was a well deserved honor. It was my honor to be there.
However it also showed just how inbred Lakewood is, and I mean that in a good way. I
believe it is what keeps Lakewood a community, instead of a city. Here are a couple photos,
from the 42 posted in the galleries that will underline the point, that often Lakewood is family.
Mayor Summers speaks of all of the good work Steve Ott has done for the city.
The Key To The City is presented to Steve.
Steve looks over to his family and wife Kathy Ott, and tells all of us, that without Kathy
by his side, with support and love, he would not be there today getting the Key to the City.
The Ott family, Nicky Ott Wills, Adam Wills, Emily Hilty, Dan Ott, Kathy Ott, Steve Ott, and Mayor Summers. The Mayor goes back to LHS with Steve, they were both Scout
Leaders together and worked on many programs together. It was a nice family portrait.
Mayor Summers goes back to Scouting with Dan, where Dan and Mike's son Ted became friends.

Missy worked for Steve, as do I.
