I find these stories so telling of our society. Both elderly women were dealing with a child bully. One had the courage to try to stop him and the other had such a low self esteem she cried and wet her self. The one that cried is now retiring with $600,000 in the bank and the one who stood up to the kid is going to jail.

What is wrong with society. My parents generation turned out great and they had corporal punishment in school and by their parents. Now we are raising a bunch of pansies that are not going to be able to handle reality once they leave their cocoons of a consequence free childhood.

Parents are to blame for both instances. I feel bad for both of these elderly women, but it is crazy that a slap on the face is cause for charges (if it really drew blood then maybe, but the article is saying that is what the kids are saying so who knows if that is true). That kid needs a few more slaps if you ask me, its not like she punched him...

As a side - this is abuse from a bus driver, he should have just called the police on her when she hit him the first time. If it was a man would he still get fired? WARNING BAD LANGUAGE

it is up to every responsible jury to ignore the orders of the Judge or Prosecutor when civic responsibility calls for it. there will be no legislative or professional solutions.

when a jury fails to do this, the governor or president can always issue a pardon or commute the sentence. In addition, Judges and Prosecutors pretty much have leeway to dismiss whatever charges they feel like.

the cleveland bus driver did the right thing.
he deserves a medal.
Many locals deserve to be thrown off the bus.
it is faster to just throw them off, than to call the police.

you are free to donate as much money to Jane Elizabeth Brooks, the Minnesota bus driver who slapped a juvenile and was sentenced to jail, as much money as you like.

the Rochester bus aide who was tormented by teenagers did not solicit any money. hundreds or thousands of people donated it to a fund for her set up by some samaritan.
granted, if the teenagers in a school district are too developmentally stunted or developmentally retarded for a single bus driver to manage, a bus aid's primarily responsibility would be to have a strong enough presence to intimidate them into remaining civilized for the duration of a bus ride.

the word of the day is defenestration. many bus passengers deserved to be defenestrated from the bus. whether teenage school students or passengers of the mass transit. the civil service exam for jobs related to driving mass transit or school buses for developmentally retarded teenagers must include reasonable skill at defenestration of nuisance passengers. I am sure Teddy Roosevelt would agree.

I have read many Mr.T vs X webcomics, and the positive conclusion of these always involves him throwing antagonists "helluva far". these are standards our society must strive for.

there are other positive gestures you can make towards decency in this case. you can burn an effigy of the judge who sentenced Jane Elizabeth Brooks in front of the courthouse, or in front of the law school this judge had graduated from. it doesn't have to be a large effigy. just a paperplate glued to a popsickle stick. it won't take long. just record it and put it on youtube. you can also throw eggs and cabbage at any law offices this judge had worked at before becoming a judge. just don't get caught.
