I have a brain storm that will make me rich, but I need some fabric to make a sample for the patent office. Where locally do they still sell fabrics. I know ebay is full of them, but I want to feel it before I buy.

I went to Stitch, but they were not open on Monday. Later that day I was driving down Detroit and noticed that Virginia Marti College has a fabric store. I went in and most of the fabrics were designer type, not suited to my idea, but they did have some Denim which is suited.

Two days later I went back to Stitch to get some velcro, but they did not carry it. My wife liked the store, as she quilts, so I imagine she will be back there as soon as she finishes the sewing on my invention.

Thanks for the suggestions. Incidentally, velcro is available at Cattans, on Berea across from the recycling station.

Without knowing how you are going about this, I wanted to offer that I've
had some luck with using Tyvek house wrap as an easily taped and glued pre-final
medium for the fine tune before making a durable pattern template. If your project
involves close tolerances, the stability of Tyvek might offer an inexpensive way
to continually experiment with your tolerances without wondering if the samples that
you worked on last night still measure the same today. Sometimes they won't.

Good Luck, and I hope to see it marketed once the wraps come off.

Schindler's on Lorain (W. 92 ish) has home dec fabrics in a variety of weights and fiber. I think they also carry Velcro. Pat Catan's would have Velcro but no fabric.
