Subject: Community Vision Updates and September Committee Meetings

Hello All,

It’s been a busy summer and we have been working hard to shape up what will be productive committee meetings. Originally, we targeted August for the next round of meetings but instead we spent the months of July and August doing process and prep work. For example, we recruited guest speakers that are experts in the all of the subject areas to help us expand our understanding and broaden our perspectives. Stay tuned.

We also asked a hand full of committee members to dive in and tackle homework assignments and develop a photo and travel log about their experiences in Lakewood as they pertain to the topic heading. Police ride along, roof top visits, errands without a car……. We will share those soon and ask for help in expanding the Lakewood Lookbook.

The next committee meetings are scheduled and listed below. All meetings start at 6:30.

Garvin and I attended the first one then were out of town for the 2nd. Plan to attend these. I can't remember what committee I was in at the moment (I think mobility) but I had been planning to make sure no one minded me sitting in a few others. After winding up doing so repeatedly during our summer travels, Garvin keeps suggesting I should look into becoming a professional disability accessibility auditor, so if that's what they mean by mobility (I wasn't entirely clear if they meant getting around town or people moving in and out of town) that might be a good fit for me, though I think there are others in the community for whom that is a more primary concern and I would like to see them reached out to for input on this. It's not like I'm the only person in town wandering the streets with a medical mobility aid.
